The Real Grass Alternative ProSports Frequently Asked Questions

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the warranty period and anticipated life expectancy?

  • Drymax PRO - Manufacturers Warranty - 7 years
  • Pro Sports Super - Manufacturers Warranty - 7 years
  • Master Pro Plus - Manufacturers Warranty - 7 years

Could you please provide examples of the longevity of your product?

Listed below are some of our oldest greens.  All of these were installed with Master Pro PLus.  Please note - some of the clubs (marked with an *) are nearing the end of their life and we have suggested they look at budgeting for replacement in the next 12 months.

Clubs such as Ingham (Noorla) enjoy a very heavy usage and the wear factor would be higher.  However, an average life expectancy with medium traffic is anywhere between 10 to 14 years.

  • Normanton Bowls Club* - Installed in 1996
  • Bowen Services Bowls Club - Installed in 1996 and replaced in 2007
  • Brandon Bowls Club - Installed in 1997
  • Alligator Creek bowls Club - Installed in 1998
  • Magnetic Island Bowls Club - Installed in 1998
  • Ingham (Noorla) Bowls Club* - Installed in 1999
  • Tully Bowls Club - Installed in 2002 - Severe Cyclone Damage & replaced in Drymax PRO in 2009
  • St. George Bowls Club - Installed in 2003 - Recently serviced and years of life left in the green.

As Drymax PRO has only been available for the past two years we cannot offer examples of its longevity.  However, due to increased density with 60% more yarn weight we would anticipate the longevity of the product to well and truly exceed that experienced with Master Pro Plus.

We have installed Drymax PRO at these locations

  • Yungaburra Bowls Club - Installed in 2008
  • Katherine Bowls Club - Installed in 2008
  • Rowethorpe Bowls Club - Installed in 2008
  • Home Hill Bowls Club - INstalled in 2008
  • Highfields Bowls Club - Installed in 2009
  • Nightcliff Bowls Club - Installed in 2009

Is this product easy to fix?

In most instances we can offer assistance in regards to fixing damage to our product.

Nature can be a cruel taskmaster.  Our product is made to withstand normal acts of nature.

Macknade Bowls Club sustained damage in a recent wet season due to flooding of a nearby creek which had not been cleaned out.  The damage mainly occured around two edges and we were able to repair the green.

Similar damage occurred two years ago to Silkwood Bowls Club and it was also able to be satisfactorily repaired.

We find that any damage to the bowls green is generally caused by flooding and we pay particular attention to the ditch drainage during the installation to ensure the fastest evacuation of water from the green.

Pest damage has not been a problem we have encountered unless you count human vandalism.  Minor holes in our synthetic bowls greens can be easily repaired.

It is not possible to make any surface resistant to mould.  A good maintenance system can keep this to a minimum.  However if mould does occur the most successful and damage free product we have found is 'Wet and Forget'.  It is readily available at most hardware stores.

What additional equipment is required for synthetic greens, how much does it cost and what training is required to use it?

A grooming machine and roller are the only two pieces ofequipment essential to the maintenance of a ProSports synthetic green.  The grooming machine freshens up the pile of the grass, maintains infill levels and removes any debris.  the roller assists with bringting the green up to the desired speed.

The cost of these machines vaires.  Roughly you would be looking at $3,000 - $7,000 for a Roller and $2,000 - $5,000 for a Grooming Machine.

Most Clubs looking at a conversion already have a cylinder mover and this can be converted to s synthetic grooming machine by replacing the blades with bruses and the cost on this would be approx. $700 - $1,000.

It is recommended that the greens maintenance prersonnel work with us towards the end of the installation to be trained first hand in the grooming of the green.  In addition we provide the Clubs with a maintenance manual.

Anticipated costs for the clubs average out to around $1,000 per green per annum.
